:( Unglaublich. Jürgen contributed SO MUCH to
the synth DIY community over the years.

Here's the oldest email I could find from "JH",
sharing knowledge as he usually did:

Subject: MS-20 PWM mod

Hi all!

Last night I opened my MS-20 to change some worn-out potis.
I also did a slight modification, adding pulse width modulation
for Oscillator 1 by LFO.

I always wanted the MS-20 to have this feature that can be found
even in the small MS-10. But I didn't want to change the MS-20's
outfit (no extra potis, jacks etc.). As oscilliator 2 offers two different
pulse shapes, I decided to sacrifice the manual PW waveform on
osc 1 for LFO PWM.

The following is a description of what I have done:

(1) Replace the 1k Resistor that goes from the PW poti's ccw pin
to ground by a small red LED (this will set the initial width to
about 30%, which I think is a better initial position than 50%).
The kathode of the LED is on GND, the anode on the poti.

(2) Add a 10k resistor to bias the LED. Resistor is soldered on
copper side between the LED's anode (ccw pin of PW poti)
and +15V (look for pin 8 of the next dual OpAmp if you are
not sure).

(3) Add a direct connection from the LFO ramp output (pin 6
of the TL081) to the cw pin of the PW poti. (This point is
originally very high impedance, so nothing has to be removed)

This simple modification will provide PWM for the MS-20.
The PW poti now acts as PWM poti. On ccw position you
have a fixed pulse width of about 30%. On cw position
you have a symmetrical PWM between 70% and 30%.

As the ring modulation position of osc 2 also uses the pulse
of osc 1, pwm will affect the ring mod sound as well.

JH.

Jürgen, I hope you're making beautiful music.
