Subject: Words of praise....

About 5 years ago I became fascinated by the prospect of having a modular synth system that would bring a significant change in tone color to my already (somewhat) predictable analog arsenal. This was triggered by the resurgence of the legendary, almost mythical Buchla 200. I was one of the first customers to receive delivery of a medium-size system, which included 2 of the original 259e's. It was hand-delivered to me by no other than Don Buchla himself. Needless to say I was ecstatic. I rushed home and plugged in my new, precious gizmo and, expecting a new, intoxicating kaleidoscope of musical timbres, I started to explore the "virtues" of these oscillators. What horrible dissapointment it was for me to hear these disturbingly noisy and harsh modules. The enchantment and infatuation died at the moment I listened to these things. I therefore proceeded to get rid of them in short order, and mourned the loss of hope for a modular oscillator which would provide a fresh, new sound to my modular system.

And then, without much fanfare, I encounter the new Euro-rack MOTM thingies. I read about the Cloud Generator.

Hmmmmmmm....

The concept sounds interesting.
Less than $400.... Why the Hell not?

And so, with some skepticism I purchased one.
And wow.
Damn!
I've gotta tell you, this little thing ROCKS!!
In my brief exploration of it, I have encountered sounds that I thought would only come from a more elaborate modular set-up (i.e., > one module).
I honestly find this to be a revolutionary device; one that is giving me what I always wished to obtain from much more expensive (and hyped) brands.
Mind you, the Buchla still has lots of wonderful things that make me want to keep it, particularly the old, original 200 ones, but the Cloudbuster (I mean, Cloud Generator ;-) ) is definitely a keeper.

Great job, Paul!!

Now 'm debating about the Terrarium and Deflector Shield. BTW, where the Hell do you come up with these names, dood? Mushrooms? Peyote? All of the above? ;-P
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY!!
