I honestly wish you the very best of luck with this approach & fully appreciate why you are pursuing it.
I will continue to buy any/all euro module versions & am looking forward to the terrarium. 5U is a glorious luxury but is not a bread & butter approach for me these days. I wish it was & I might have the space for it all.
Either way, thank you for continuing despite all odds to design & construct wonderful musical instruments. Your designs inspire my music and I am grateful. And yes, I am ∗still∗ working on my Opera and no I am ∗not∗ ready to share. 35 years isn't really that long, is it?....

After looking at the next 6 months or so of available time for both myself
and Eric (DSP/FPGA guru-in-residence) we have decided on the following:
a) 5U Cloud Generator (MOTM-520) proceededs as before
b) 5U Morphing Terrarium will use existing Euro design/features in 2U
module. 2 front panel toggle switches added to "bring out" the Euro jumper
options (quadrature mode and interpolation on/off). The Linux platform for
the 5U MT has proven....errrr...difficult to "hook" into external hardware.
c) MOTM-300 and MOTM-440 will move into SMT HW designs. This is due for lots
of reasons: parts procurement issues, time-to-deliver issues and a few more.
I will STILL STOCK FOREVER the original pc boards for the DIYers. This
∗only∗ is for assembled modules. This will probably be in late Dec/early
Jan.
d) I will also have a 5U version of the E560 Deflector Shield (the Euro
frequency shifter/phaser/Ring Mod)
e) I will ∗strongly look∗ at putting some, if not all, of these new modules
into MU (.com) format with associated .com power connections. This will be
done ∗after∗ the 5U MOTM ships.
And please. The sound/performance will be the same IF NOT IMPROVED. so let's
not do down that tired SMT versus through-hole debate from 1999, OK?
I am hoping that this will "kick start" my 5U sales in Q4/Q1 2011.
