greetings all MOTMers
i scaled down from a largesystem to just these favorite modules. i still have the MOTM love but lostinterest in audio hardware and need funds, so i think it is time to pass themon, sadly. a lot of care went into building them.
· the preamp is a veryhumble TL072 design, the first DIY module i did, with Paul as teacher. as youcan see the front panel 'graphics' aren't much to look at :) but thepreamps do come in handy. there are 2 that are AC coupled and 2 DC-coupled.there are also 2 voltage sources: variable -15V to +15V HOWEVER they are notbuffered and thus actual voltage varies with load. still cool (less predictablesometimes = more fun, right?) $95/neg
· the polyfusion EF isawesome, was one of my favorites. it does have a stray voltage or something onch2 but should be really easy to troubleshoot. of course i have a complete fileon it, including my PCB layouts etc. not a difficult circuit. let me saythat Harry Bissell (from the synth-DIY list) is a saint. he worked closely withme on all of the DIY modules below (not the above preamp) they were constructedpretty well, despite a problem here and there.
· on ch 2 of thisunit, when you turn the threshold down (just like on a compressor), even withno input the yellow 'signal' LED comes on, indicating that it is getting somekind of voltage when it shouldn't be. again, it's not that complicated of acircuit and i have full docs. DEFINITELY one of the coolest modules forwah-wah filter sounds, VCA envelope shaping, etc. i was really surprised thatPaul never offered something like this. features a 5X audio input gain boostfor the hell of it, and both CV & gate outputs. $175
· the coolest thing ihave from Paul, however is the MOTM-410. if u haven't heard it, you are in for areal treat. the smoothly evolving LFO filter action creates a gorgeous lusheffect on pads, back vox, strings, etc. it's so high fidelity too. i thinkJurgen Haible designed it, not sure. in any case this module was always one ofmy must haves, and obviously one that i've held onto until the end. it isperfect. $250 ----SOLD
· the lin/log/lag wasan earlier design by Harry. he has further developed his lag circuit by nowwith i believe a very different design. i also did this one as a 2-channelunit. it has a problem whereby when either the UP or DOWN knobs are betweensay, 0 to 1, there is an audible oscillation. beyond that it lags very well inboth linear and logarithmic modes. so, for short duration lags, it is notreally useful IMO. Harry & i weren't terribly interested in troubleshootingit for whatever reason so i went on to other projects. that said it is stillquite useful. and you might even look him up for help with the circuit ifinclined. $95
· the LFO 5a was anEFM ('electronics for musicians', i forget the guys' name, Tom something.he designed a ton of pretty straightforward circuits back in the day, not surewhat he's doing now). i have a full file folders on these projects includingschematics, pcb layout etc. this LFO works fine, but is not a super 'precision'type of unit a la Paul. the range isn't the widest via pot control, but CVinput allows clocking to any freq. absolultely a great 2nd/3rd LFO.. it hassome cool outputs like the stairstep and random. i added an extra CV clockinput to the design. it also has a separate S&H section, which behaves alittle differently than the MOTM-100's, though it has been too long since iused it to remember exactly its peculiarities. $140
· the 4-stage summeris a particularly innovative design (mine :)… it functions as a simplemixer with no volume controls. it takes 3 inputs and sums them to 1 output. ifno output is present, it cascades those 3 to the next stage, so you can thensum 6 inputs to 1 output. this goes on for 2 more stages. so each stage can beused individually OR cascading. VERY useful. $140
· the 2-channel VCF 8e(an Electronics for Musicians DIY circuit) is a Korg MS20 copy. excellent HP& LP. i added an additional FREQ CV input to each channel (for a total of 2summing clock inputs per channel--can be interesting..). the rez controls arevery touchy, and their sweet spot is very small, after which point they willoscillate like mad, so you have to treat it nicely. a nice useful module. $150
· the MOTM-120suboctave multiplexer is useful for making square sub-waves for audio use andfor sequencing etc. full description here: http://www.synthtech.com/motm120.html $230
· homebrew drilled& tapped rails, 10RU across, best offer. i have 1 or 2 of these, seepicture. pretty decent job, 98% of screw holes line up. see pictures of my old emptyenclosure on the weblink below. $neg.
schematics/pcb layouts includedwith all. buyer pays shipping. split escrow fees or check/MO. slightdiscounts for multiple module purchase….
