Good to hear your thoughts Thomas. I wish some of the "quiet" people on
this list would speak up more. The reward would be less of my idle Stooge

You sir, are in the RIGHT place at the RIGHT time. :)

I think that "who has the most" thing is a closely guarded secret by Paul
(who picked one hell-of-a-bad week to go to the east coast) Schreiber.
I'll offer a hint and say I think this person lives "outside" the USA.
As far as the guys with 20 or more modules, I will join that elusive club
with my 440 filter arrives next month. I had originally planned a system
with about 35. However, I now see (from the list of stuff we would all
like to see built) that I will be unable to stop anywhere close to that
number. However, as some of those newer to the list may not realize, MOTM
is nearing is second year anniversary. So, getting 20 has been a slow
process buying one or two at a time over a long period of time as they
became available. I am looking at my first MOTM module receipt. It is for
a 110 VCA ring mod on April 21, 1998. Looks like I purchased module # 6
that was sold. For guys like me without "other" modular gear at the time,
that first few months was bitter sweet. I knew we were entering something
good ('cause Paul told me), but, I couldn't do anything with that VCA but
just look at it. Hell, I didn't even have a power supply.
But, the slow build up has been good for both customer and supplier I
think. First off, I could not afford to jump out and buy 20 modules today
(well, I could if I told my son he would have to drop out of Med school).
So, the ability to buy one "here and there" has been good for me. And
secondly, I think it has been good for Paul. Selling a few modules to the
first "subscribers" was a way to have some relatively certain cash coming
in for needed parts and development. If there is anyone reading the list
that does not know what a "subscriber" is, then listen up. Being a
subscriber is a way to say to Paul, "I believe in what you are doing and am
making a (non-binding) commitment to purchase a new module every time you
release one." It is a commitment to a guy who started this to sell a few
modules to help support his own modular dreams. I think the emptiest rack
these days is probably Paul's. So, if you want to show your loyalty to the
product line and commitment to Paul, belly up and "subscribe." You can
still pass on what you don't need. I skipped the 940.
