Hi Jim,
At a guess I’d say the MOTM modules use an average of approximately25 ma @ 15 volts per module. 25 ma x 45 modules is 1125 ma or 1.125amps. Even if you bump up by 40% more amperage for good measure you are stillonly up to a hair over 1.5 amps.
I recommend that you consider saving yourself some money andspace in your cabinet and get the HCBB-75W-AG which is 1.5amps @ +/-15 and 6 amps @ +5 and $75 cheaper than the HDCC-150W-AG youare considering.
Do I need toreplace capacitors on the MOTM distribution boards??
Probably not since caps are rated for their voltage handling andthe voltage isn’t changing but Paul will have the best answer on this(and Paul would have the best answers on all of these questions but I wannahelp! He’s too busy soldering anyways! ;-)
Do I need toswap the switch & fuse assembly??
Paul recently posted the models of the related parts inthe MOTM 900 power supply:
Carling Switch Model #62115919-0-9-V, Allied ElectronicsStock #683-2007.
The fuse/power inlet is Digikey #Q203-ND.
With that you could look up the specs of these parts and compareto the requirements of your proposed power supply. Here is a page youmight find useful: http://www.powerstream.com/Amps-Watts.htm
I’m guessing that youwont need to change these out at all but it doesn’t hurt to verify tomake sure you are set up correctly.
Do I need touse a different type of fuse (if so what value)?
Probably. The PowerOne supplies have the recommended fuse valueswritten on the outside of them. Radio Shack, Home Depot etc carry fusesso unless you live way outside of a big city you should be able to find some onthe day you need them.
Best of luck!

PS – I recently finished my ‘DIY’ PowerOnepower supply. A couple pictures are in the photos section for this mailinglist.

Subject: [motm] New Cabinet & Powersupply
All, I amabout to build a new cabinet for my modular, and with that I was going toupgrade my powersupply.
I want a power supply that will take care of ALL of my modules (including thenewer digital MOTM ones like the 650, 730, etc). I was also thinking ofincluding a "break out" distribution system for items not necessarilyinstalled in the rack - i.e. desktop modules & etc....
I found a power one supply that I think would fulfill my needs and I waswondering if I need to do anything special to use it with my modular. i.e. Do Ineed to replace capacitors on the MOTM distribution boards?? Do I need to swapthe switch & fuse assembly?? Do I need to use a different type of fuse (ifso what value)? Please Please Please help me get this set up, I'm tired of usingmultiple power supplies (I've got about 45 modules - about 3/5 are built).
HDCC-150W-AG150.

All help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
