Sure they can, but it seems like they can't place themselves in the minds of
people buying the parts. If somebody goes to reorder parts, only to find
their price has doubled, people know they're getting screwed. That doesn't
seem good for business. That leads people to look and buy elsewhere and
leads the company to gain a reputation for screwing people. Those generally
aren't good longterm policies. It also causes other companies to step in
and make cheaper knockoffs, like Paul mentioned about Switchcraft jacks.
