Having enough synths (or modules) for the number of voices as you
are going to use in an arrangement saves you from having to
re-patch while composing or recording.
It seems that Vangelis works largely that way. Some people like
Tomita and Carlos can do complex arrangements bit by bit but
that's not as easy and not as spontaneous.
