Subject: Re: [motm] Modular Compatibility (MOTM

I have three Modcan B series modules in my MOTM rack.

http://pugix.com/synth/category/modules/modcan/

Two of these, the CV Recorder and the VCDO, have a 200ma draw from the
+15V supply in the standard build. On-board regulator generates +5V
from the +15 supply. But Bruce Duncan is happy to build these with a
5-pin power connector, so that +5V can be supplied externally. He
delivered the modules with 5-pin connectors and cables with bare ends.
I put 6-pin connectors on the bare ends to mate with the MOTM-950, and
life is good. The Dual Quantizer board can also be assembled to use
external +5V. But since the +15 current is only 45ma (as specified; I
haven't measured it), that one uses the normal 3- to 4-pin adapter
cable. (Modcan B has a 3-pin power connector for +/-15V and ground.)
Just make sure to order the right cables and build method for your Modcan.

Oakley power connection are compatible with MOTM. The only difference
is that the two center pins are not connected to each other on Oakley PC
boards. One is for panel ground, the other for circuit ground. In
practice this doesn't make much difference, since the two grounds are
joined at the power supply in a MOTM system.
