Subject: Bringing back some modules

From: "Paul Schreiber" <synth1@...>
Date: 2007-10-22

I have found a cache of pc boards that I did not know I had (actually, GC
Fuller had them) for the following modules:

MOTM-700
MOTM-890
MOTM-820

Also, I have discovered that:

a) I'm out of rack rails (I thaought I had 20pr left!)
b) I only have 4 original MOTM-700 front panels left, but requests for 7
modules

As most know (but some may not): the black textured paint on the panels is
no longer supported by my panel supplier. This is due to strict OSHA
(environmental) laws that took place this year on Jan 1. In Nov 2006 I
bought panels for the non-discontinued modules (about 35 of each, about 70
for the MOTM-300s and MOTM-800s).

Now, the 3 above modules were on the discontinued list (because in the last
3 years, I sold <10 of each one!). But now I have all of the pc boards worth
about $1000 and no panels for them. And people are now wanting these kits.

So, what I will do is order more panels, but with THE NEW FINE TEXTURED
PAINT. I do not expect these panels to arrive before Dec 1st. The supplier
does claim the Polane process (old paint) added 2 weeks to the delivery
time). We shall see :)

BTW: the MOTM-19A rails have used this newer paint for 2 years.

What I will do is put these 3 modules back into the shopping cart as ∗kits∗
(I don't need more assembled backlog, thanks anyway) with the following
notations:

a) the panels will be the new paint
b) the delivery will be ∗after∗ Jan 1st
c) I will lower the price $10 per kit as an incentive

Please note that ALL MOTM PANELS will be this new paint after the current
stock is depleated. If you want to know what the new paint 'looks like',
look at any Dell desktop (I'm looking at my Optiplex 745). That's about what
it looks like. The grains are finer, and the 'sheen' is less. There is not a
damn thing I can do about it, so no whining. Who knows, you may ∗prefer∗ the
new paint :)

Lastly: I will put the 3 kits up in the cart AFTER I get a firm confirmation
from the supplier all is OK on their end (like all sheet metal vendors, they
are a ∗bit∗ flakey).
