I haven't physically checked my my 800's, but my documentation says
that it is 10N on both the schematic and the parts list. The only
100nf caps in the kit are the 0.1mfd ceramic axial bypass caps, but
those aren't yellow boxes.
Sorry, I can't tell you what C4 does since the 555 isn't being used
as a timer. Pin 5 is the "control voltage" which is generally pretty
useless (it goes to the the 2/3 V+ reference for the upper
comparator). I've seen plenty of perfectly functioning circuits
where it was left unconnected, but according to the data sheet it
should be connected to ground with a small cap. I always used the
same ceramic bypass caps that MOTM uses for the power supplies on IC's.
I'm no EE, but I'm thinking a multilayer box cap of the same value
would work just as well -- 100nf, 0.1mfd, and 104 all mean the same
thing.
