Subject: It's been two years...

From: "Doug Wellington" <DougWellington@...>

I've been going through my studio, thinking about the things I've
added recently, and I remembered that it was two years ago today that
I sent off my first check for my very first analog synth purchase. It
was made out to Larry Hendry and it was for a stooge panel (for a
Miniwave with expansion boards), some brackets and some mounting
rails. Within two weeks, I also placed orders with Paul Schreiber,
Scott Juskiw, Dave Hylander, John Blacet, and Tony Allgood.

Over that next year I was really having fun. It was more than just
the modules, it was about the inspiration, not just my own, but the
collective drive of the analog synth DIY community and the people who
used the tools created by that group. A particularly nice memory was
watching Steve Roach put together his modular over a pretty short
period of time, then getting to witness what he created with it.
Visiting his studio and actually seeing him work with his gear really
opened my mind to a new world of possibilities...

I was driven to learn, to build, to create, and I'm thankful for the
people I met along the path. In particular, Larry Hendry was a big
help to me, always replying to my emails, answering my questions and
somehow coming up with just the panel, bracket, or schematic I was
looking for. I looked forward to working with him, whether it was
learning, collaborating, or just trying to reward him for his hard
work by buying a few trinkets here and there...

Life is full of meetings and partings and I'm glad to have been able
to share a little of the path with Larry and everyone else I've met,
and I look forward to the next two years with whatever may come our
way - I'm sure it will be interesting and almost surely not what we
expect!

Thanks for reading...
Doug
