Speaking of DACs.
My probably unreasonable wish list has long included an MOTM format PCI
audio interface like the RME HDSP.
http://www.rme-audio.com/english/hdsp/cardpci.htmAs a "software guy" (the type Paul curses every time he must change his
web site) I may be getting the question wrong, but what about separating
the DAC/ADC from the Audio Engine, and using some other kind of data
interconnection/bus for the digital modules?
I'm not so interested in a digital module because I'm convinced I can do
any of it that I like with a general purpose computer, which also
affords me a big screen, large library of support software, relatively
large hard disk, etc., etc.. What I'd definitely pay serious bucks for
is a MOTM-quality, 1U, 2 or 4 channel, USB<->(audio, CV) interface. I'm
happy to work around the latency/jitter issues with USB. Of course, if
you want to avoid USB, as RME did (above), I'm happy to use a PCI card
instead, but I have a feeling that's a fair bit more work.

P.S. Yes, you will have to wait until the guild meeting is over before I
fix your MySQL database. ;)
