Ken,
As far as holding off, I would say don't. That other bargain brand is a
lot of fun (yes, I know it is not MOTM standard). But, if you buy the kit
and assemble it you will always be able to get your money back selling it
on e-bay or AH when-and-if Paul ever makes us MOAV. Because my name,
photos of the "Scott Lee" modification in my vocoder, and wav files I made
are all posted at the PAiA site. I have been asked more than once if I
would assemble one by little vocoder want-to-bes that don't know which end
of the solder iron is hot. BTW, John took my nice 32 KHZ, 12 bit samples
and squished them down to 8 bit 11Khz. So, they really do sound better
than that.
E-mail me privately if you want some sample .WAV files I did with that
"other brand" vocoder. :)
