Subject: Westward ho!

Did people really say that?

Tomorrow I'll be packing the Engine of Chaos onto a 14-foot U-Haul
truck. This is a frightening proposition - put all of my electronics,
guitars, amps, drums, etc., etc., on a truck, tow my car behind it on
a trailer (don't ever use those stupid two wheel dollies, by the way.
You'll cup your rear tires horribly and you can't back them up
easily...), and drive to Southern California. Oh, and my cat Leo will
be the co-pilot. I'm not sure whether to whack him up on kitty
tranquilizers or take them myself. Maybe we'll just share.

Leo is actually a pretty good navigator, once he stops yowling about
being trapped in a moving vehicle. I've driven this route before,
having lived in South Pasadena 10 years ago. Our new, temporary
apartment is only two or three doors up from our old building. We
should be able to buy a house within a year - we just want to watch
the market for a bit as prices there are dropping (yay!) and houses
are sitting unsold.

My temporary email will be osthelder@... and I should be back
on line by Thursday the 31st. If you live in the area, drop me a line
and perhaps we can hook up. If you need small parts and bits, they'll
be a couple of weeks away. If you own a business that needs an
electronics engineer with a lot of industrial controls and prototyping
in audio and radio equipment experience, I'm available! If your
female and just need some eye candy, you're out of luck. Middle-aged,
overweight grandfathers are not a pretty sight. Gravity is a cruel
mistress...

Hold that '480 for me, Paul!
