Subject: Fixed filters/parametric EQ talk

a) Ken, I was ∗joking∗ about the price increase to pay for the kitchen. Her mom
paid 1/2 and I paid half. The price increase was due to Tyco (EvilEmpire),
Spectrol, NKK and Switchcraft all raising prices.

b) If anyone thinks I'm getting "rich" off MOTM, think again. For this year, I'm
∗negative∗ $4,000 or so. That will change when I start shipping the sale kits
∗until∗ I then spend about $13,500 on parts. Then, I'll be negative again :)

c) I am investigating using the AudioEngine for real-time filtering. Even though
there is no dedicated DSP IC, the Xilinx part can do DSP functions. And since we
are NOT in a DSP, we can do many operations in ∗parallel∗ because a DSP (well
most of them) can do only 1 operation at a time (like 1 multiply/add). It's no
big deal in Xilinx to stick say 6 parallel VCFs in there (or even 600). The
tricky part is the actual design, but there are tools available for <$500 to
assist in that. And, MOTM has a secret weapon: a user is ∗the∗ (not "a", "the")
Xilinx DSP guru. So, expect some exciting things later in the year.

Other companies may ∗outship∗ MOTM, but no one, and I mean ∗no one∗ is going to
∗outdesign∗ MOTM.
