Subject: Re: [motm] Re: Balancing amps for non-modular synths.

The Blacet is a possibility, but doesn't the VCA just attenuate, not boost?

If it does boost, then perhaps I'll have to re-examine this whole thing....

VCA, then?

Attenuate I can do already - I want to boost.

My sampler and Matrix are both set at unbalanced (-10) and I want
to
take them up to balanced (+4), like my modular.

I know the MOTM filters can handle unbalanced levels just fine,
but
I'd rather have the boosting before and not after the filtering.
I
also want to save the trouble of switching the -10/+4 switch on
my
soundcard.

Hey Matthew -

Do you have one of Paul's mixers?  You can use that to attenuate
a
signal...

Hi all,

Just wondering: what do you guys do to integrate synths that use
unbalanced output levels into your modular?

In my case I've got a sampler and a Oberheim Matrix-6r that make
me
adjust my input levels (I have a console-less studio) whenever I
want
to use them with my MOTM filters (not the 420 but the 410 and
soon
the 490).

I know there is a dotcom module that does this, but I imagine
that
this would be a fairly easy DIY project. And, naturally, there
are
lots of outboard balancing amps out there.

Is there anyone in a similar situation?

Matthew
