Subject: RE: LED's breaking the bank / Gimme an LED

From: "Dave Bradley" <daveb@...

This is a good subject. My opinion is that LEDs are pretty, and I like them.
They should perform a legitimate service to be included, however. This is
what I find valuable:

1. LFOs to show frequency
2. EGs to show gate status in a complex patch (very valuable in a larger
system!)
3. Midi/CV output panel for the same reason
4. Sequencer state position and mode status

However, Paul's concerns are legitimate. I'm building 2 step sequencers now
(which I am naming Larry and Moe; Paul's DOMOAS sequencer when it comes out
will be named Curly, nyuk nyuk). These will have 11 LEDs each, and I'm
placing them on separate regulators, and taking some other steps Paul
suggested to make the CV outputs absolutely isolated and clean. This is the
one part of my system where I am going to splurge with LED indicators
because they are most useful here; but I'm gonna pay the piper with a
separate dedicated power supply for the digital stuff.
