Subject: Re: [motm] Re: eggnog and dancing module fairies

I will defend the MOTM-190 a bit here. The 'A' section with the ring
modulator works fine as a regular VCA in the Linear mode. While lacking
the VC attenuator and the initial gain pots of the 'B' section, the
Blend pot can accomplish a similar function to the initial gain pot. In
Linear mode the Blend pot is a "wet/dry" mix. As you turn it toward the
"IN" mark (counter clockwise) more of the input is mixed through. This
is like increasing the initial gain: the sound never completely
disappears from the output. As for the lack of a VC attenuator, I find
that most of the time I am driving the 190 from a MOTM-800 and I want
the full dynamic range. The final output levels are adjusted downstream
of the VCA in a mixer either in or outside of the modular.
