Hello.
I'm interested in transmogrifying my tiny PAiA/Blacet modular into a
mostly-MOTM system, salvaging the Blacet modules. I had encountered
MOTM stuff through web searches several years ago when I was just
getting into kit-hacking. It's wonderful to see what all you crazy
characters have created, and at the same time tremendously sad to read
about Larry Hendry. My background is Computer Science, not EE, so
please be gentle. I've been reading through hotrodmotm.com,
synthtech.com, and the list archives. I plan on visiting a friend who
has a sizable MOTM rig in the coming week, to finalize my plans and
order before the 15th.
How is the 650 different than the Expressionist? I realize this is
probably like walking into a room full of UNIX hackers and asking
whether vi or Emacs is better, but I figured I have to start
somewhere. Is there a 650 spec sheet other than the "new stuff" page
on synthtech.com? I searched the mailing list archives, back to 2004,
but I haven't found much actually describing the 650. I use my PAiA
MIDI2CV8 to trigger an SDS-8 and other similar "drum expanders", I
assume I will be able to get this to happen with the 650?
I understand there's a Stooge Enterprises mounting bracket for the
Blacet pieces. I never had the pleasure of meeting or speaking to
Larry Hendry, but just reading his web site and what others have
written about him, I have great respect for him. I guess I'll hang
out and see if more of the brackets show up. If one takes the pots
off the Blacet PCBs, and uses one of these Stooge brackets, will the
depth of the module be shallow enough to fit in an SKB case?
I'm sure I'll have more questions soon. Thanks for any answers.
