I, like many others here, was deeply saddened to hear of Larry's
passing. I've known Larry for eight or nine years now through our
mutual appreciation of the Korg DSS-1 sampler and analog synths.
While I haven't been in touch with Larry as much these past few years
since moving out to the left coast, we still kept in touch via phone
and email, as well as the annual AHMW pilgrimage. Larry was a great
all around guy and always eager to lend a hand, and I did likewise
where I had ability.
I hadn't planned on making any public comments on this or other lists,
however I must say I was appalled at the behaviour of a few dozen MOTM
list subscribers, as well as their synth-diy and AH counterparts, when
instead of offering condolensces to Jim Hendry and family, and
business partner Dave Bradley and wife, these individuals chose to
mirror Larry Hendry's extensive website immediately upon Dave's
announcement of Larry's passing.
I will continue to host Larry's site unless instructed to do otherwise
by Dave or Larry's son Jim. It is unconscionable that folks would
think of themselves before offering condolences. Not only am I
saddened by Larry's departure, I was dissappointed by the selfishness
of some of the folks I previously respected in this and the other
synth and diy communities.
