I've had one of these for years and have been very satisfied. I haven't even needed to replace the plastic tip or anything. It rocks ;P (as much a solder sucker can rock)
I wanted to replace several resistors on a PC board recently and needed more than just solder wick. My old heated desoldering iron gave up the ghost. I ran out to Radio Shack and found this solder sucker tool that I hadn't noticed before.http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F009%5F007%5F004&product%5Fid=64%2D2098You have to be fast, heating the joint then quickly placing the sucker over it and pressing the release. It comes in handy for cleaning out the holes after you have removed the old leads.
