I think this is the problem I am having.. If I back off the attack just
a little bit I can audibly hear it ramp up and it sounds weird for a
bass sound. I'm going to follow Paul's ssuggestion to make the lower
range of the attack knob less sensitive and maybe then I can zero in on
an acceptable setting because right now it is pretty fiddly.

suggestion of changing a resistor to numb the sensitivity of the first
50 or so degrees of the attack knob on the eg. Most of us spend most
of our time within the quicker half of our ADSR's abilities I bet, so
it makes sense to me to have the bottom end mellower (less sensitive)
and then as you turn the dials to get longer responses, it could be
touchier. I do remember the eg's having a very touchy lower end.
Maybe a switch could be added to switch between modes..
