Subject: Re: [motm] To many VCO

In the "cram as much into 1U as possible" department, I made this VCO:

Front panel looks like this: http://www.cs80.com/CSVCO_PNL.jpg

Board currently looks like this: http://www.cs80.com/CSVCO_PCB.jpg

A departure from the usual front panel placements are the use of two
1/8" shaft knobs (only one shown in the panel pic, the other is now below
it) for fine tune and PWM CV level. Some might gripe about the packing
density, but I like saving moduler space as much as possible and the idea
was to provide all the signals and controls of the Yamaha IG00153/IG00158
VCO and waveshaper chips.

It is not very clear in the PCB pic, but all pots mount to the PCB, with
the 1/8" shaft pots 'stood up' on their legs to reach their panel
positions.

I don't know whether I'll make any of these for general sale as I my
intention isn't to take away any of Paul's business. Crafting
experimental circuits in module form is simply the easiest way to test
them as there are plenty of reference modules and a standard
power/mounting scheme. The real goal for this circuit is my integrated
CS-80 voice card project, which is for repairing CS-50/60/80s, not modular
use.

Still, I like this VCO as a module. I'll bring it to AHMW '05.
