Dear Mr. McCauley,
I am writing as a character witness for Mr. Larry Hendry, whom you have
boldly accused of stealing. I urge you to consider the possibility that your
accusation has been made in error. As you will likely learn from an influx
of e-mail messages, Larry is not just a faceless name on the other side of a
website. Rather, he is a highly respected member of a global community
consisting of hundreds of members.
I have known Mr. Hendry casually for about 1.5 years through some online
discussion groups (we share a common hobby: electronic music synthesizers).
In that time, I have made a few purchases from Larry's side business, and I
have nothing but praise for his professionalism. Larry probably does
hundreds of small sales every year, yet I am aware of no complaints about
him -- and you know how some people like to complain.
On top of his good business dealings, Larry is just a great guy; he is very
active in our online groups, freely providing technical advice and assitance
to other members. When another member and I wanted to build some devices,
Larry provided information, schematics, and photos, and he followed up by
answering our dumb questions. You just don't find people like this, every
day.
Also, I recall when the video in question first surfaced, because I
initially thought that it was fake and I said so online! Larry replied
(quite civilly, I might add) with an account of what had happened at the
substation, explained why the spark behaved the way it did, and so on.
In short, I am quite sure that you have wrongfully accused Mr. Hendry of
theft. It is my sincere hope that, once you reach the same conclusion, you
will apologize to him.
Sincerely,
John Mahoney
