I've replaced the PDF with a jpg. This is a different file conversionprogram, so hopefully this will work for everyone.
For you Mac OSX users, the program that has been the problem is"Preview". It does not like to convert pict into jpg. And apparently itdoes something funny with the pict to PDF conversion although somefolks are gettting a black picture.
