Due to the unofficial stooge/motm non-proliferation of EGs pact I doubt this
will ever be stooged.

I've never heard it put that way. "Non-proliferation pact", sounds like a
weapons system agreement. :-) But, seriously folks, we do sometimes take a
position not to make certain panels simply because we believe it will pull
cash flow out of MOTM land. Our goal is to suppliment the experience, not
to cut into into the founder's business. :-) I think all you guys that
have been around for a while understand that, but maybe the newer guys need
to hear it anyhow. The Schaeffer / Front panel Express option is always
there for those that feel that need. I think that is great. But, Dave and
I do not have to go against our particular beliefs when those panels are
made. As I see it, the MOTM-800 EG is the cash cow that helps support
everything else that happens in MOTM land. So, that is where Dave and I
stand. One day that may be different when / if circumstances change in MOTM
land.
Speaking of panels, I have ordered the PAiA ribbon controller. I am not
certain exactly what the ribbon element will be like. I am expecting
something leaning toward the cheap which is the norm for PAiA (not a bad
thing at times). However, I am very excited about the circuit. It has many
features of a ribbon control module that I have been discussing with Dave
Bradley for some time (a high and low note from the same resistive element).
And, I can see from the schematics that this should work quite well with the
Doepfer Ribbon element. I think the Doepfer Ribbon element is awesome.
However, the Doepfer module is a total piece of crap IMO. So, if the PAiA
circuit is all that it is supposed to be, I can see an opportunity for
Doepfer Ribbon (thow away the module), PAiA ribbon kit (luckily they sell
the PCB and electronics parts separately from the wood and control panel),
and Stooge panel with MOTM like implementation. I have mine on order. Web
site says shipping in September. In PAiA-speak, that probably means early
next year. Who knows. But, I plan to build one up and start playing with
the idea of a Stooge panel. :-)
