Hi Michael -

I think that it would be great to have both filters in a rig. They
do compliment each other in a certain way - they both have a
Yamaha 'sound' but the 485 can be a lot rougher sounding. I would
get two 485s for max versatility.

About the patches: it was a while ago and I don't keep notes, so the
exact particulars are, um, lost to history. But basically I used
the two sides of the filter independently with a VCO & modulation
feeding one side and a different set feeding the other. The VCOs
shared a CV source, tying the patch together. As I recall the
patches were pretty standard VCO-VCF-VCA stuff with some modulation
of the VCF via EGs and LFOs thrown in.
