You know, once you learn how to work with SMDs, its not that difficult. In fact, these days I can solder/desolder SMDs ∗faster∗ than through-hole components. They only snag is you ∗must∗ have an SMD assembly workstation, which runs about the price of the typical music-store synthesizer.
