Wow! This is the 6th and largest year for the AHMW (Analogue Heaven MidWest)
Gathering yet (and my 3rd year to attend). Don't worry--it has nothing to do
with all of the noise that accompanies that, now sad, mailing list. AHMW is
the name and it has stuck.
This has to be the largest and most impressive gathering of analog synths and
synthheads in the world. There were about the same number of people at
SynthDIY 2003, but definitely not more equipment.
A special thank you to Andrew for hosting this amazing event!
It is surprising that Paul didn't attend. Perhaps the largest gathering of
MOTMers ever--Larry, Moe, Shemp, Chuck M., Old Crow, Scott, Carey and some more
I am leaving out. And some other notable figures such as Grant, Michael Firman
and Brice.
People came from all over to attend--Toronto (Canada), Kitchner/Waterloo
(Canada), Virginia, Iowa, Texas (Arlington--but not Paul or Roger), Columbus
(Ohio), Cleveland, Detroit, Indianapolis, Wisconsin and more that I am not sure
of.
The breadth of equipment was again staggering. I won't go into details at the
moment. Perhaps Andrew has composed a list.
Lots of fun things to play with--MOTM-480, MOTM-510, Encore Frequency Shifter,
GX-1 prototype, PSIM-1, Stylophone, Speakjet chip, Wiard Noise Ring, Wiard JAG,
Fred (DIY rotary dial synth), and lots of other stuff as you can tell from the
pics that have been posted so far by Andrew and Brice. Carey and Larry should
have more on the way soon.
If you haven't been before, it is worth the trip!!! Mark your calendars for
March of 2005 to make the trip to Indiana no matter where you are coming from.
Hopefully Paul will embark on the journey as well. This is probably the most
concentrated market for potential customers that I know of. And the exposure
elsewhere is pretty broad too.
I left tons of stuff out. Really the best thing is talking with so many
amazing people in one place. If you have any questions, please let me know....
