It won't work without cutting the rack rail. The lip that normally resides
behind the module at the top and bottom (where Paul reserved 1/2 inch in the
layout) will interfere with the jacks and PCB mounting.
If you were willing to do some heavy cutting / grinding on the MOTM rails,
you sure could.

Has anyone ever mounted MOTM modules sideways using the standard rack
rails? For example, you could take advantage of the 2U available at the
bottom of a 12U SKB pop-up case by mounting two 2U modules sideways at the
bottom. I'm thinking of mounting an Expressionist breakout panel and a 940
patch panel in a non-MOTM area of my studio. The 940 is very useful in
places away from my MOTM...
