What I find surprising about this is that all the hard work (the mental
work -- getting the measurements and design down) is now done, and now all
the work for the cabinet maker is cutting, fitting and assembling. Seems
like rote wood working to me and it would be easy to get someone to cut
fifty boards of size X and twenty boards of size Y. I can't understand why
none of these guys want to do it -- maybe there's not enough art/craft to
that kind of work.

Well, it is more complicated than that. Let's review:

Cabinet maker # 1 is still with me. After well almost two years, I finally
have three cabinets from him that my synth lives in. I gave up on him for
production a long time ago. I am hoping he will have all my personal
cabinets delivered to me by next summer. Why. 1. He does it enjoyment, not
the money. He has two pre-teen daughters involved in everything and he
wants to be there. The list goes on.

Cabinet maker # 2: The best yet. The guy that built the NAMM cabinets.
Those were the nicest I have even seen. Your reason below is his gig. He
makes only one of something and then he has to make something different.

Cabinet maker # 3: This guy will make cabinets as long as I ask him to. He
has made jigs to so he can be consistent with all the cuts. He has worked
and revised the plan over and over until everything fits like a glove.
However, he is retired. He has one pace: SLOW. It would take him 10
minutes to get out of his house if it were on fire. He has decided to take a
3 month break from wood working. He really likes to play golf. No doubt,
he will pick it back up in March. But, I believ I can count on this guy for
only 8 to 10 cabinets a year max. That may eventually be enough. But, the
pent up demand from so many since no cabinets have been available for so
long is considerable.

So, 4 of you are happy campers right now. The other 20 plus are cursing the
Stooge.

Larry (whose personal cabinets are complete full and still waiting on his
own cabinets too).
