Someone just asked me whether I could burn custom EPROMs for a LinnDrum. If
I remember correctly, old drum machines used some sort of companding scheme
to get better sound than straight eight-bit linear encoding. I thought that
this would be the sort of information that would be easy to dig up on the
web, but after a half-hour of googling I've come up empty handed. Does
anyone know what encoding scheme LinnDrum sample chips used?
