Man, all this talk about live EM concerts is getting me hyped
for the show tomorrow at the Whitaker Center in Harrisburg.
Robert Rich will be there, playing his MOTM. I'm still blown
away at how talented he was at the steel guitar. I actually
went out and picked up a Rickenbacker Electro after hearing
the amazing sounds he was producing. Robert is a real "Heart
and Soul" musician. He puts so much feeling into his performance.
I have watched both David Gilmour and Steve Howe on the steel
guitar and without a doubt, Robert Rich's solos on the steel were
among my favorite. He was Smokin', right up there with the best.
And if that wasn't reason enough to get hyped, John Serrie will
also be performing there. I have never seen John play live and
am looking forward to the experience.
It gets better, Jeff Pearce will be there too! This guy is just simply
awesome to watch. He plays processed guitar with an unbelievable
amount of touch and feeling. I thought he was running a MIDI guitar.
I could hear Mellotrons and orchestral instruments in the background
when he strummed out arpeggios, but it was all guitar. Jaw dropping!
Can it get any cooler? How about the godfather himself, Steve Roach
will also perform live. Steve gets the best sounds I have ever heard.
This guy is the master at ambient sounds and textures.
That is an unbelievable line up. Starts tomorrow at 2:00PM and goes
till whenever. Like taking a lesson in EM/ambient/space music.
