Subject: Playing Live...

It comes down to "taste" and opinion...
Like Les, I too was researching the approach to live playing again... if
you have ever seen T.D. live and the use of sequencers or Christopher
Franke... same thing. You have to utilize technology a bit to cover the CD
recorded material "if" you are trying to do the gig solo or even with a few
friends. I like this approach much better and would probably try and
duplicate a T.D. type scenario so as to play off of each other and give more
"live" variances.... , ∗however∗ if you listen to Christopher Frankes "LIVE"
version of Purple Waves vs. the studio version, there is about 21 additional
minutes of music... so it "IS" different than the CD... you can program in
"excerpts" or lengthen the music to your own taste's... after all you wrote
it...play it live the way you feel.
I myself, personally really enjoy Robert's show, and would go again... I
listen to the CD's and enjoy those too...it's all your own individual
preference... and if I happen to have a sequencer running Cubase or
ProTools, or whatever... it is only there as a tool in my bag of goodies to
pull off live what I may have multi-tracked in the studio... but lately, Zon
and I on occasion will get together and play it all live, no sequencing via
computers, but we use the heck out of the UEG, and the 960, and I use my
Doepfer 16;3, eventually I will use the u600 maybe a few of them... who
knows... sounds like a fun journey to me...
but these are just my random thoughts and opinions... take em with a
grain of salt...
