I have now taken delivery of 4 walnut cabinets from the cabinet maker:
one - 1 x 24U straight
three - 2 x 24U straight
See:
http://www.wiseguysynth.com/larry/misc/cabinets.jpgfor a massive stack of walnut.
He is now building the first prototype 2 x 24 slant. I expect to approve
that in a couple of weeks and see production start on those. The prototype
will be Ash (stainable to walnut). It will be available at very favorable
price to someone looking for only a 2U x 24 cabinet. The construction will
be identical to the walnut cabinets.
A few comments about these Stooge cabinets as they have evolved:
1 - We have changed to metal enforced corners. MUCH better than the wood.
The joints are super tight and neat even without glue. I will update all the
web page photos in a week or so.
2. Notice the 2 high cabinets have bracing across the back in both
directions. And, you cannot tell from the photos, but the backs are 2 piece,
each being one row high. The bottom row comes with 3U cut off for power
supply mounting. However, you can easily cut off more and mount multiple
power supplies across the back. The bracing will support mounting modules
anywhere on the back you choose with ordinary wood screws (or you can add
more flat rails)
As soon as I get the panel order to the printer, I will be contacting some
of you to start taking delivery of your straight cabinets. Slant cabinets
will start delivery in late July.
I am completely out of flat rails. I ordered more today and hope to have
plenty in about 4 weeks to meet all cabinet needs.
