Well......

What can I say, it was awesome... I must first say that what a great individual he is.  I arrived early about an hour before show time, and immediately saw Robert walking outside, so I introduced myself and he was pleasant and very willing to chat a bit before going in to sit by a table he had set up for selling CD's and the famous "Glurp" T-shirts. I was allowed to go in through side door and get up close and personal to his MOTM system... for the tour he told me that he put the "essential" modules back into his old case, due to the fact that it was smaller in depth and lighter to move around. but he still had a very impressive 3 rows tall x about 24 to 25 single "U" wide... and it sounded great... he also said that while he loves the "Larry" cables they also added significant amount of weight to the system when he has alot of them patched in... and I saw alot of "Larry cables !!" and not just on the MOTM... they were everywhere... I am not sure of this and didn't ask, but I think he may even leave the system all "patched" even in transport.

Now here is a side note that all of us will be impressed with, as we were discussing "other" modulars, we again came around to the ultra superior construction, detail, and most of all stability of the electronics themselves of Paul's MOTM line... Robert's MOTM Modular is not in a flight case when he travels... and he said after the pack, the drive, the Arizona heat... he did not have to tune ANY of the oscillators !!! I'd say that in itself speaks the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me Paul ! :-)

On to the actual performance... he walked up to the area in which he was playing, just like the pics on his web site, he had the blue glowing tubes just hanging around throughout his setup... and he said, "Hi, I am Robert Rich, I will be playing about 70min set thanks for coming, enjoy." or something to that effect... and he started on this Journey of material that spanned several of his works. Some of my most memorable moments was when he would just play the MOTM, and turning knobs... scanning the system as if a mad scientest looking for that test tube of "glurp" and then with precision, reaches for the elusive knob, and makes the tones come alive... it was very moving, and very clear sounding... it really came through...

I couldn't take pictures due to something with the venue and thier lawyers...blah blah blah, it was posted outside, but I did sneak a few shots after talking to the person who appeared to be supervising this event, she was also very kind in letting me do so... Considering the unique style of music, and the little to none advertising, there were many of Robert's fans there... and a fair turnout. Most were there to see Robert, and not the headline act... as I spoke with Robert he kind of joked, kind of a mis-match of musical styles...which became very appearant as the headline act started their set just after Robert was done... hence my abrupt departure... I didn't get to stay around and say my goodbyes, but Robert was busy tearing down, and I didn't want to slow his progress.

I highly recommend the show, he is a talented musician, and quite the personable musicians musician. What a great show.... think I'll solder now to some "Bestiary."

Cheers, Markk
