Does anyone know of a currently available device for creating convincing "strumming"?
Years ago, Oberheim made a device called the "Strummer" that would take as MIDI input chord triads from a keyboard; it would then re-voice them for proper guitar voicings and then strum them, outputting the altered MIDI.
Later, Ilio offered a really cool thing made by Charlie Labs in Italy called the "Digitar" that was a short bracket sporting six strings and a MIDI output. You would voice your chords on a keyboard or whatever, then go back over them in your sequencer strumming these strings. They were solely for triggering the sounds.
Both of these units are long out of production. Is anyone out there doing/using anything convincing besides just rolling chords on the keyboard...?
