I personally find blue LEDs annoying on several fronts:
a) the beams are ∗extremely∗ collomated (sp?). Meaning, they have very narrow angles of
dispersion.
b) my eyes at least are ∗extremely∗ sensitive to their wavelength, and like ancient Chubbster,
when I view them "head on" I see spots
c) a friend has a Krell CD player (the one I took the inside photo of) and the power LED is
blueish-white. Man, in a semi-dark room you can read by it. When I was working on it, I covered
it up with duct tape. Same goes for my DVD player: when you place it into double-line-scanning
mode, this horrendous blue-violet LED comes on at 10 candera. Out comes the duct tape.
I like orange ('amber') LEDs as well, and just find the blue LED "unplesant" to look at. However,
this doesn't mean blue LED fans should be banished into a cave and be pitied. I just means you
won't see a 'stock' MOTM with a blue LED :)
