Hi all
Just thought I'd share the swap fest experience, for the benefit of those who've never been.
As discussed on previous posts, this is a great way to find a bargin on something your looking for,and maybe something you didn't even know you needed !
And,as brought up on other posts, there's alot of stuff..ok..junk. But,once you wade thru that you can find a bargin,if that's your goal.
Arriving shortly after the gates openned I found I had just missed what was described as something similar to a land rush. Would have like to seen that.
After walking around a bit,I noticed most people talking to their lapels. Oh yeah, this is a ham radio thing. Ok,I'm not the the brightest bulb in the pak first thing in the morning.
So,to blend in,I just walked around talking to myself.
But seriously, these events are a good source, and don't forget your other hobbies and interests,I have found hard to find and bargin prices on motocycle and boat parts at similar type events.
And,don't forget the entertainment value.
One guy was selling a crusty,non-functioning,4 hole toaster for $5. When asked what the hell someone would do with it,he replied..PARTS...geez
