That's what the Sub-Octave Multiplexer module does!
A sub-octave is just a way of getting a cheap square-wave an octave lower
than the fundamental by taking the square wave and running it through a
flip-flop. Every other rising or falling edge of the waveform moves the
output high or low, effectively creating a square wave an octave lower.
With a little thought, you can produce other pulse widths, too. The Paia
1550 "Stringz & Thingz" was essentially a battery of gates of this sort to
produce 50% and 25% pulses at various octaves and then mix them together
organ-style for different timbres.

motm@yahoogroups.comSubject: [motm] [Q] Sub-Oscillator Generators
On many commercial synths, you see sub-oscillator
generators. How is this function usually implemented
on commericial synths? What are some ways the
equivalent can me acheived via MOTM? Any pros or cons
of sub-oscillators?
Thanks!
