Subject: nice little review from AH ...

I ordered a MOTM system and the first modules to show up were the oscillators
(and a power supply).
If the quality of these oscillators is any indication of what I have coming,
then my patience will be generously rewarded.
This is not a full, technical review. I just want to share some sonic
impressions that others may find useful.

For now I've got my MOTM-300 Ultra VCO and MOTM-310 Micro VCO patched into my
Moog modular system and they tracked perfectly right-out-of-the-box from my
Moog 951 keyboard controller.
This is surprising since I bought the MOTM-300 used and the MOTM-310 new
(both assembled by Synthesis Technology) and I had expected to have to do at
least a small bit of 1V/octave trim adjustment as I have with every other
analog oscillator that came through the door.
But - they were ready to play as soon as they were patched in.

> Subject: [AH] MOTM oscillators

I'm using them in conjunction with my Moog 921B oscillators and they sound -
and track - great together.
(921Bs track much better than most people give them credit for). Upon auditioning the MOTM waveforms, I found that the MOTM oscillators give
me that "extra-hollow" square wave sound that is missing from the Moog 921Bs.
I had previously planned on tracking down some Moog 901B oscillators to get
that sound, but when I whipped up a simple "Lucky Man" type patch with the
MOTM oscillators I was truly shocked at what I was hearing. A friend of mine
was over at the time and he has owned both 901B and 921B oscillators and when
I made the patch glide down to the lowest note, he had the same jaw-dropping
look on his face.
And, I'm only using two oscillators (for now ;-).
The sawtooth waveforms are exactly what I had hoped for - and more - since
they are much fuller sounding than I had expected.
They also have the clarity of detail that gives me all the sizzle I ever
wanted from a sawtooth wave.

So, am I impressed? Absolutely.
In fact, after three decades as a synthesist and the owner of several modular
synthesizer systems (Moog, ARP 2500, Doepfer, Roland System 100) and
normalized analog synths (too many to mention), I've got to say that the
MOTM-300 and MOTM-310 are the best sounding analog oscillators I've ever
played.

My jaw is still on the floor.
