Thanks so much Paul! I just wish I'd known about it this morning (my fingers
are still sore). I would've written something like "see DSG, UAP, VCM." Did
you happen to notice that part where it says you can't buy a module alone, you
have to buy a whole rack panel. And that an average rack panel costs about
$2500 (or more). A wise man once said $2500 will buy a helluva a lotta MOTM
(OK it was me, and I'm just a wise guy).
I can say that in my few interactions with Serge T. he was very patient, and
helpful, and seemed clearly interested in helping students of EM, both by
providing kits of good quality, usefullness, and good information on how to
use them. Paul really reminds me of Serge with his patients, help, and
listening to our input; more than any other synth builder around he embodies
this spirit. I'm glad he's building modules that are of such a high quality.
I also just stumbled on to a 1983 PAiA catalog and found the following in
their synth section:
4710 Ring Mod/VCA (not a dual module, use the RM AS the VCA!)
4711 Stereo Mixer
4712 Reverb
4740 ADSR
4720 VCO
4730 VCF (multimode)
4750 Control OSC/Noise
4771 PSU
8771 QUASH (uP S/H) (?)
2720 Env Follower
Most of these modules are already available from MOTM. plus many more on the
way! I can't imagine (no offense meant) John coming out with this many in the
near future, or that he would have the more specialized modules (like the MOTM
100, 120, 700) which make a modular more than a few modules.
I'll try to keep buying a MOTM module a month, but I like to think of myself
as being just a bank heist away from my next Serge panel.
