Isn't this what happened with the original version of the MOTM-800 Envelope Generator? We now have the "B" version of the circuit board that allows full ADSR operation with just a gate (no separate trigger pulse required).
To Paul's credit, there was a lot of discussion on the list before this board revision was made. And as I recall, I believe that some of the list members had modification instructions at one time for converting the old 800 board to the new functionality. (As someone who owns 5 of the original MOTM-800 modules, I'd like to know if these modification instructions are still available anywhere.)
Just another reason to buy MOTM quality!
