Subject: The word on cables is here - PLEASE respond

Read carefully if you are interested in buying patch cables.

OK, I am just about to get this cable thing to launch. I think I have
enough people interested to make this fly. Let me give you some info:

The cable used will be a high quality Belden cable. It will be 20 gauge
inner conductor, not 24 like some cheaper cable. The shield will be a full
braid with 95% coverage. There is some better, but not at the prices I was
able to negotiate. If you think 98% coverage cables are the only thing,
then go pay lots more. Most of you said, lets keep the cost reasonable.
And, I am willing to bet these cables are better than 99% what most of what
you are using right now.

The cable is very cool looking. It is colored, BUT semi-transparent, so you
can see the metal of the shield through the jacket. It is very hip looking
in my opinion. If you look at the PH series from Rapco, you will see what I
mean. Or, you can wait for photos. I will be getting a sample, cutting it
apart and taking photos so you guys can see exactly what we will be buying.
I will not be getting cloth cable. The cost was too high and the quality
was not near as good.

The connector will be Neutrik part # NYS224. This is identical to the
Switchcraft 280 that everyone seems to like. This is not the tapered barrel
Neutrik connector most are familiar with. It is the connector Neutrik made
specifically to compete with the Switchcraft 280. The quality is there.
Neutrik is first class in my opinion.

We will have heat shrink. The standard method for this cable is to have the
heatshrink cover the entire 1/4" plug. However, Stooge buying power lets us
choose. We can put the heatshrink INSIDE the barrel if that is what we
prefer. I will eventually be asking your preference.

We can get the cable heat shrink imprinted. At one time, that was going to
be free. But, with the price I am getting on the cables, it would be extra
(50 cents extra a cable). Personally, it is not worth it to me. But, YOU
guys TELL me. If some well known modular synth manufacturer (cough, cough)
wanted his name on the cables, and was willing to cough up a few bucks,
well, maybe I could cut that per cable cost down. That is exactly what the
extra cost to me would be. Anyone want to buy some AD space?

Colors:

Cable colors available will be: blue, grey, green, black, magenta, brown,
orange, purple, yellow. The black ones are not semi-transparent like the
colored ones.

The shrink colors available are: black, blue, brown, green, orange, purple,
red, yellow, white.

We can mix and match. I am thinking I will set up some kind of form, so you
guys can spec the lengths and colors of what you want. Then, I will combine
everything into one big custom order.

Price: I do not have a firm price on each individual length yet. But, I
have firm prices on a couple of lengths so you can see where we will be.
Now, I hope everyone understands, I will be placing a mark-up on these.
This will be a lot of work and I need to make something to make it worth my
while to make it happen. I am getting set up to be a dealer for Rapco
products to get these prices. Here is what I can tell you about price:

1 - I am buying these cables below published dealer cost (most dealers don't
normally buy 500 at once).
2 - I will be putting a smaller mark up on them than dealers would -- MUCH
smaller.

Here are two examples for price consideration.
2 foot cables: I will sell for $5.50
4 foot cables: I will sell for $5.95

My thought is to offer cable prices in 1 foot increments through 6 foot. I
expect we can order them any length. Maybe you just must have 1.5 foot.
Just remember that the cable lengths normally are tip to tip. Not wire
length. So, a 1 foot cable is damn short.

That's the deal gents. In my opinion you cannot go anywhere and get custom
cables with these quality components for this kind of price. I considered a
lot of cable and connectors. And, some of the cost prices I got for MY cost
were more than what I will be selling to you for. So, I think I have really
squeezed a LOT of value for a quality cable into this price.

Now, here is what I need from YOU. Before, I asked for interest. Now, I am
asking for commitment. If you will be buying cable, send me an e-mail with
a number. I don't need to know lengths, colors, or preference of
heatshrink. I just need a note that says "Larry, I will buy XX number of
cables in the price range you described." Later we will get down to your
choices. But, I have to know who is serious.

After I add up all the XX number of cables, I will know if we have enough to
make this price fly. I am talking about a LOT of money here, that is why I
need a commitment.

OK gents. Your turn.
