Overall an interesting sequencer idea. In thinking about real time use:
(1) The Assignable Knob looks to be the size of the knobs on, say,
Encores' UEG. For interactive use I would much prefer the motm size over
the UEG size as the larger knob is much easier to use.
(2) Except for Stop (Red is a logical color here), all of the tact buttons
are blue. I would think that logical selections of multiple colors would
aid in real time access. For example, make both Gate buttons Green.
Because Global and Select are both editing functions, make these the same
color. Paul - if this interests you I'd be happy to make initial
suggestions for all 10 buttons given an available color selection list.
Also, difficult for me to determine from the photo, the tact buttons
should be easily visible under dim lighting as this environment is typical
of live performances. I would rely more on color of buttons rather than
squinting to see button labels under dim lighting.
(3) Possible rearrangement of some buttons for logical grouping (albeit,
"my" logic, I'm sure not everyone's logic). For example, the Play and Seq
buttons are two obvious choices for live use. Currently, Seq is buried on
the top right - placing Seq just to the right of Play associates these 2
functions, and associates both of these with the Assignable Knob (and easy
finger placement and reach).
(4) Is the Data Entry knob, especially the knob's detent easily visible
under dim lighting?
(5) Jack function arrangement is 'perfect'. Please don't change this.
I realize that some of the above suggestions may not result in a 'cool'
module look (I'll admit the blue tact buttons are nice against the black
backgroud), but my orientation is function over image, so I'd prefer a
'rainbow' of tact buttons just so I can more easily intereact with this
unit.
Anyway, just my $.02 (FWIW). I am intrigued enough by this module that
I'll put in a pre-order.
