>>Well, I think DVD videos's shortcoming is turning out to be durability. I
can't even count how many times I've rented movies and have had them skip,
freeze up, or not even play at all. This is due to previous
mis-handling.....scratches! :(

Pet peeve: a lot of the problems with DVD are that the discs are very
susceptible to damage by ∗flexing∗, and yet 95% of the DVDs out there are
packaged in either the miserable "spider" clasps, which 9 times out of 10
break teeth in shipping and allow the disc to rattle around in the box, or
the ever-popular "Alpha" cases that hold the disc in so tight that you have
to practically bend them in half to get them out of the box!

I have friends that actually replace all of their DVD packaging with the
superior Amaray-type clasps. Seriously, they go to InetDVD online monthly
and order large quantities of the better cases just to avoid that disc flex.
Of course, now they're starting to package movies with cardboard packaging
that makes it much more difficult to replace without pulling out a utility
knife.

Anyway, sorry for the gripe, but I've had a few DVD issues myself and the
packaging issue bugs me big time.
