“Line lump” typically refersto a “wall wart” type design with an AC cord on one end, ratherthan plugging directly into the wall. The conversion unit is a lump in themiddle of two cords, AC & DC, hence the name.

Even with awall wart I think the first solution is probably the way
to go. I saythis because I think the 500 series are going to appeal
to a lot ofpeople who may just want them on their own. So an
individuallow cost-ish solution seems a good idea.
