Subject: RE: [motm] Newbie MOTM'er

Welcome!

Don't worry; these module kits are very well designed and documented, and
there are many good people on this Email list with extensive knowledge of
audio electronics, and in particular these modules, who love to jump in and
help out when anyone has a question or problem.

But don't expect problems. Take your time and the modules will work.

I envy you having a cabinet BEFORE collecting a mass of modules! I'm still
crumpling up sketches over here after 3+ years of thinking about cabinets!

I agree with the advice to save the VCO for later--start with an EG if
that's feasible. (Better yet, the power supply.) However that said, a VCO
was the first MOTM module I built, and it worked first shot. It wasn't even
particularly difficult to calibrate because it is so darned stable!

Hi all. Just a quick post to introduce myself to the MOTM group.
I am so new to MOTM I havent even received my first batch of modules
yet, but I have been practising my soldering etc. (and buying tools.
In the interim I have also managed to make a wooden cabinet to house
about 20 modules (Larrys site has been a big help). So this had
better go well or I am going to end up with $500 dollars of scrap
electroniucs and a wooden box. I'm sure I will be needing advice so
prepare yourselves for a raft of daft questions in the coming weeks.
Happy twiddling
Steve M.
