I went to his show and it was really great! He showed off some excellent
chops on a piano in the beginning and then went more for the electronica
sequencer filler while playing live over it for the rest of the show. The
piano was a very swirl of frequency and texture. I've never heard anyone
play it like that before. Instead of paying attention to discrete notes, I
was more focused on the "flow" of the harmonic structure. It seems to be
very fluid and moving.
Another cool thing was that he was constantly "playing" the modular and a
rack of delays, live loops, etc. Very busy guy on stage!
The sound was very good too. None of that
too-loud-so-you-can't-hear-cause-your-ears-are-bleeding sound. It was almost
too quiet but it did come up to a nice level after about 15 minutes. I
recognized about 25% of the material and got a chance to ask Robert "what
what that piece just before ....) and found out I need to buy the Soma
album.
And I walked out with both of his UEGs as the souvenir winner of the
evening. Actually I took them to do the firmware update ;)
Way to go Robert!!!
